Tecplot RS 2009 adds data loaders for SENSOR simulator

Latest update saves time by eliminating need to pre-process SENSOR files

BELLEVUE, WA — July 15, 2009 — Tecplot®, Inc. today announced it has added SENSOR® data loaders to Tecplot RS 2009, the company’s reservoir simulation visualization and analysis tool for oil and gas reservoir modeling.

With this update, Tecplot RSTM 2009 now loads both well production data (XY) and grid solution data created by the SENSOR reservoir simulator directly into Tecplot RS, eliminating the need to pre-process SENSOR files. The new feature is an example of the market-driven philosophy that propels Tecplot RS. Tecplot developers collaborated closely with The Strickland Group, a petroleum engineering consultancy, to integrate the SENSOR loaders into the product.

“Tecplot RS gives us one visualization package compatible across major software vendors. No special handling or pre-processing of the SENSOR files is required – just point, click and visualize,” said Richard F. Strickland, PhD, President of The Strickland Group. “The SENSOR functionality in Tecplot RS is excellent, and the new features further enhance the beautiful graphics and ease ¬¬of use. Now I spend more time thinking about my reservoir and less time wrestling with files and non-intuitive visualization packages.”

Tecplot RS 2009 now supports most major reservoir simulator formats including SENSOR, ECLIPSE, CHEARS, VIP, VDB, FrontSim, and 3DSL.

Platforms and pricing

Tecplot RS 2009 supports Windows XP/Vista (32- and 64-bit) and Linux (32- and 64-bit) platforms. Pricing starts at $6,000 in the U.S. for a single-user perpetual license. Existing Tecplot RS 2009 users with current SMS agreements can upgrade to the latest version at no cost. Special pricing is available for qualified academic users upon request.
