Job Description

Tecplot is currently looking for two Scientific/Engineering Software Sales Representatives.   In this position, you will be responsible for expanding Fortune 500 accounts through actively managing relationships and building awareness in key business units.  One of the representatives will focus mainly on the Oil and Gas industry.  You must have the ability to travel on a regular basis.  Having a science or engineering background is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Create new revenue opportunities with the Fortune 500 accounts
  • Work in a team environment and assist inside sales representatives in making sales within their territories
  • Must have the ability to identify technical issues that pose obstacles in expansion within these target accounts
  • Convey customer requirements to Product Management
  • Maintain current and accurate account and contact information within the CRM
  • Prepare sales quotes and proposals
  • Coordinate meetings, demos and conference calls
  • Full accountability to meet or exceed established sales quotes
  • Report on market changes affecting company products and services
  • Spend at least 25% of time visiting customers and prospects to understand the critical business needs and increasing license utilization and revenue

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering, math or science, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Relevant B2B sales experience
  • Previous experience in the Oil and Gas industry preferred (for the Oil and Gas role only)
  • Successful completion of professional sales training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with engineers and scientists
  • Ability to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Team player with drive, conviction and positive energy
  • Proven track record of success
  • Ability to travel throughout North America
  • Non-smoker
