Solution: You can create a shadowgraph by going to Analyze/Calculate Variables and selecting Shadowgraph from the list. The intensity in shadowgraphs varies with the second derivative of density. The light intensity in schlieren images varies with the first derivative (gradient) of density in a specific direction (normal to the knife edge).
