Problem: Can I open layouts stylesheets macros etc saved or recorded in Focus 2009 into older versions of Focus (like Focus 2008)?
Solution: No. Layouts stylesheets and macros will load into newer Tecplot versions than the one they were created with but not into older versions. In order to work with data created or recorded in a newer version of Tecplot Focus in an older version use the compatible data file feature introduced in Tecplot Focus 2009. To use this feature choose Write Data File from the File menu. In the Write Data File Options dialog that displays choose Tecplot 2008 or Tecplot 2006 from the File Format Version menu according to the version with which you wish to ensure compatibility.Specify any other options desired in the Write Data File Options dialog and click OK to write a data file compatible with the chosen earlier version of Tecplot Focus.To load this data file in the earlier version of Tecplot Focus open the earlier version and choose Load Data File(s) from the File menu.
