Problem: I noticed that the myhostids.txt file in my Reprise License Manager (RLM) installation directory shows “invalid” for the “ether” (mac address) field, but my Unix computer does have a valid mac address. Why is the mac address not recognized properly?
Solution: RLM does not support the use of the mac address in license keys on HP/UX Itanium, IBM AIX, or Sun Solaris Unix platforms. RLM instead uses the 32-bit unique hostid, which is noted in “disk” field of the myhostids.txt file.
