Third-Party Products: Developed for Tecplot GridPro 2D

Dynamic Two-Dimensional Meshing
Developed by Program Development Company

What is GridPro2D?

GridPro2D is add-on software for Tecplot 360 that integrates sophisticated 2D, multi-block grid generation (meshing).

GridPro2D, available for Windows systems, allows Tecplot 360 users to easily generate quality 2D grids for applications like CFD with GridPro's unique Dynamic Boundary Conforming (DBC) technology.

Why GridPro2D?

  • Features a user-interface integrated with Tecplot 360, GridPro2D is intuitive, easy to learn and easy to use.
  • Offers the power of the industry’s most advanced block-structured grid generation package from GridPro, developed by Program Development Company.
  • Replicates GridPro’s flexibility, automation, and quality. It was designed to closely reproduce GridPro’s functionality in two dimensions with a smaller, more compact user interface designed inside Tecplot 360.
  • Features a short learning curve: Users can easily learn the interface and methods with the help of instructional videos, tutorials, a help-list of functionality, and a trouble-shooting guide.
  • Works with AutoCAD drawings as ‘.dxf’ files. Users create their own shapes and curves and import any set of digital-line segments.
  • Has advanced parametric capabilities. Users have the ability to re-use templates by simply modifying the surface files or changing the shape of surfaces inside Tecplot 360. There is no need write separate sequential scripts and learn scripting techniques to get parametric capability. It is built into the system. Since no scripting is required, it gives the user a path-independent approach to incorporate design changes into meshing.
  • Makes it easy to generate periodic grids. Periodic boundaries are automatically generated as part of GridPro2D’s grid generation solution. Computer generated periodic surfaces are generally better fitted to the problem than user-generated periodic surfaces.
  • Makes it easy to do boundary-layer clustering. There is no need to guess distribution functions. Simply specify the off-wall spacing required, and GridPro2D will do the rest. It will even automatically add cells to smooth the clustering transitions.
  • Supports CFX, FIDAP, Fluent, GASP, NASTRAN, NCC, PATRAN, Plot3D, StarCD, and WIND.

Resulting grid for the periodic blade. The periodic boundary geometry and grid are automatically generated by GridPro during the grid generation process. Automatic clustering is applied here as well.

This Grid is also periodic. This view shows multiple periodic copies of the grid, demonstrating its smoothness and orthogonality where the grids meet at the periodic boundary.
