An introduction into new ways to handle streamtraces in Tecplot 360 2012 R1. This video highlights new additions including two new options: surface zones and specific object selection. Streamtraces may be generated along a slice in different orientations depending on the application. The surface zone option creates streamtraces along a surface; which, as shown in this example becomes useful when visualizing flow separation. (1:50)
This tutorial shows how enhanced features of Tecplot 360 R1 focus on exploration of external fluid dynamics by placing streamtraces on surfaces. In the previous versions of Tecplot 360, slices would fill an entire domain, this video shows how you can constrain this plane and see what is going on around the vehicle. New features make it easy to visualize how flow properties are changing within a domain and along a surface. The surface zone feature takes advantage of the processing power of your computer and provides additional streamtraces in key areas of interest. (2:31)
This tutorial evaluates the slicing capabilities in the new 2012 Tecplot 360 R1. A typical slice in Tecplot would often times extend well beyond an area of interest which consists of the domain on or near the body. Using the new slice constraint feature, a smaller region may be targeted. Additional features allow slices to be manipulated further to visualize the important details of a model and more effectively interact with the domain. (2:49)
