Color Contour Bands.
To obtain sharp and distinct edges to the color contour bands, every element or cell in the surface grid through which a contour level passes is subdivided into two or more sub-elements. In this plot, a contour line passes through the cell in the center of the simple grid. In creating the contour bands Tecplot divides this cell into two sub-elements (quadrilaterals in this example) such that each sub-element is completely within a color band. The edges of the bands coincide exactly with the edges of the sub-elements.
