Tecplot Releases New Version of Reservoir-Simulation Visualization and Analysis Software

Improved plotting capabilities highlight latest release of Tecplot RS

BELLEVUE, Wash. (December 31, 2015) – Tecplot, Inc., developer of the leading visualization and analysis software for reservoir engineers, today announced the general availability of Tecplot RS 2015 Release 2.

The highlight of this release is the software’s enhanced plotting and analysis capabilities. Specifically, Tecplot RS now features:

Weighted KSum and KAvg

By including a user-selected weighting variable, the KSum operator can be used to create one-click integrations of grid variables along the columns of grid cells. The KAvg operator will calculate the weighted average of the grid variable for each column of cells. The results of these operators are displayed on the top layer of the reservoir grid to provide engineers with valuable insights of the reservoir properties.

Multi-Variable Quick XY Plots

The Quick XY plots for grid variables provide a quick look at the time history of grid variables for user-selected cells. These quantitative plots have been enhanced to display lines for multiple grid variables and to compare multiple grid solutions in one plot.

“The ability for engineers to see what’s going on inside their oil & gas reservoirs is key to determining the potential profitability of those reservoirs,” said Tecplot President Don Roberts, who also serves as Tecplot RS product manager. “As such, we are committed to providing robust visualization and analysis functionality with each release of Tecplot RS, giving engineers who rely on our software multiple ways to see and understand details hidden within their reservoir-simulation data. The improved capabilities in this new release are evidence of that commitment.”
