Tecplot 360 2018 Release 1
March 15, 2018, Bellevue, Washington: Tecplot, Inc. has announced the general availability of Tecplot 360 2018 Release 1. This release has many loader improvements, added capability for slicing and isosurfaces, extended XY curve fits and updates to PyTecplot, a Python API. Highlights include:

  • Loading CONVERGE results with an updated EnSight loader. Improvements were also made to the OpenFOAM, VTK and SZL-Server file loaders.
  • Slicing and isosurfaces have added ability to preserve the original mesh of the source zone.
  • Extended XY Curve Fits are available, including Akima Spline, General Curve Fit and Sineman Interpolation.
  • PyTecplot, a Python API, has introduced a Probe-on-surface function to query nearest locations on surface zones.

“CONVERGE users will be thrilled by this release.” said Scott Fowler, Tecplot 360 Product Manager. “We have worked closely with CONVERGE engineers to ensure compatibility. CONVERGE users who currently use EnSight Desktop will be able to post process their results faster with Tecplot 360’s unlimited CPU threads. Many other advantages include comparing results from multiple simulations and sources, monitoring runs in progress, loading cell-averaged CONVERGE data, and plotting 2D and XY-lines with maximum flexibility.”
