IT Desktop Systems Engineer

 

Job Description

Tecplot is looking for an IT Desktop Systems Engineer. This person is a collaborative operations leader who enjoys working on small teams with big impact on how our people get their job done every day. They will join the Operations team that supports a growing portfolio of geographically diverse companies, taking ownership of much of our employees’ user experience that includes deploying and managing workstation hardware and software, software licensing, cloud services like Office 365 and Slack, VDI, and more. This person will help empower Tecplot’s employees and developers to work more securely and effectively by bringing their passion for people, automation, and security.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for shaping the user experience
  • Desktop provisioning, imaging, and related automation
  • Identity management (AD, Azure AD, etc.), MFA deployment
  • Endpoint management (patching, antivirus)
  • OS state management (Elastic Stack, OSQuery)
  • Physical asset inventory management
  • Workstation hardware support
  • BIOS, firmware, driver updates on Dell and Apple machines
  • Software licensing (MVLS, and other third parties)
  • Purchasing, issuing POs for software renewals
  • Helping manage the IT budget
  • Vendor management
  • Desktop virtualization (VMware Horizon, NICE DCV, Teradici)
  • Assists with user-experience-related projects:
    • Further MFA rollout to user-facing services
    • Info Sec policies related to user behavior, desktop configuration, etc.
  • Office 365 administration
    • SharePoint sites and permissions
    • OneDrive permissions
  • Slack administration
  • Media creation to assist users with daily tools and security threats:
    • Documentation in SharePoint or wiki
    • Video curation / creation
